A Norris Green school officially opened its new flower gardens and playground thanks to a grant and funding as well as donations made by the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association and Cobalt Housing. Deputy Lord Mayor of Liverpool Gary Millar joined parents, teachers and pupils of Ranworth Square Primary School for the event.

The school received a £1,750 grant from the Primary Care Trust for the new flower garden, and their playground was funded by more than £9,500 from the National Lottery.

Susan Padgett, acting headteacher, said: “We didn’t have anything in the grounds before, so it’s really fantastic we got the funding. All parents, school governors and staff are involved.

“The students love it, their behaviour has improved during playtime as they have things to do.

“We got the funding, and staff built the equipment. Our vegetable patch has just been harvested, too! And the brand new climbing frame is fantastic.”
