We would like to reassure or tenants’ that our gas, electrical and essential safety checks can be safely carried out within your homes with minimal risk to you.

We understand that due to COVID-19 many of our tenants’ are concerned about letting our contractors, Liberty Gas and PH Jones, into their homes. As your landlord we have a duty of care to our tenants’ and community members and as always, our tenants’ safety remains at the forefront of everything we are doing.

With social distancing measures in place, more of our tenants’ are now spending more time at home and it is essential that our gas, electrical and essential checks are carried out, to make sure our tenants’ and their neighbours are safe. We are still legally obliged to carry out these checks by the Health and Safety Executive as the risk remains the same despite COVID-19.

Measures are in place to ensure that there is minimal risk to you in your homes. The below video shows some of the measures are contractors will take to make sure you and your families are safe:

Are you shielding/clinically vulnerable to COVID-19?

If you are unable to allow access to your home due to COVID-19 shielding or have been advised to self-isolate due to the NHS track and trace line, you will not be penalised. If you have received a medical letter that advises you to continue to shield, we are kindly asking our tenants’ to provide evidence to our Cobalt team. Tenants’ can email a photograph of their evidence to [email protected], if you do not have access to an email address please call 0330 303 2222 and ask to speak to our compliance team.

From August 1st the government are changing the shielding advice, you can read more about this by clicking here. Should you receive a further action notice and are currently medically shielding please contact Cobalt immediately with evidence of your shielding letter to avoid further legal action.

Your safety, is our priority

We understand our tenants’ concerns and we want everyone to feel safe, but some repairs are very important and if not carried out could pose a risk to you, your family and your neighbours. We have a process in place and all our engineers will follow the current social distancing and PPE guidelines.

Our team can discuss any concerns with you, please don’t ignore our letters and calls, we can help. Call us on 0330 303 2222 to discuss your current household situation.
