The government has announced a number of payments in response to the cost of living increase. Take a look at the information below to find out what you could be entitled to:
Cost of living payment
Every household paying an electric bill will be eligible for a £400 payment that will be taken off your account in the autumn.
Pensioners
Anyone who reaches pension age before the 25th September 2022 will get an extra £300 in addition to the £200-£300 Winter Fuel Payment. Most payments will be made automatically in November or December.
Disabled people
There will be an extra £150 payment for people in receipt of one of the following disability benefits:
- Disability Living allowance
- Personal Independence Payment
- Scottish Adult Disability Payment
- Scottish Child Disability Payment
- Attendance Allowance
- Armed Forces Independence Payment
- Constant Attendance Allowance
- War Pension Mobility Supplement
You will receive the £150 in September and it will not affect your existing benefits.
Low income households
£650 will be paid in two instalments to households in receipt of one of the following benefits:
- Universal Credit
- Pension Credit
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Income Support
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit
