Euros 2024 gets underway this weekend and unfortunately, instances of domestic abuse increase.
Previous tournaments have seen a spike in domestic abuse cases against women in England. In 2020, there was a 5% rise in referrals to the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV) and protective court orders rose by more than 400 compared to the five-week period before the tournament.
Research shows that abuse cases rose by 38 per cent when England lost a match and 26 per cent when they won a game.
We take a firm stand against stopping all domestic abuse in our communities. That’s why we’re launching our ‘No Excuse For Domestic Abuse’ campaign to raise awareness of the types of abuse and the devastating impact it can have on victims.
