If you are currently in receipt of Universal Credit and are claiming housing costs to pay your rent, you need to notify the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) about the change to the amount of rent you pay.

On Monday 3rd April, you will be able to log on to your Universal Credit account and update your housing costs to the new amount. Please do not update your housing costs before this date as the information you provide will not be updated on their systems.

If you do not update the information, you will also receive a notification from the DWP to complete this new to do in your journal.

You must complete this to do before the end of your Universal Credit assessment period in April 2023 or you will miss out on the money you are due. If you do not tell the DWP about your rent increase, your Universal Credit payments won’t be amended to cover the cost of your rent.
