In April the government launched a new opportunities and empowerment programme called Four Million Homes targeted at improving engagement with social housing residents.
The Four Million Homes programme is a new government initiative which has been designed to be a catalyst for change in social housing – providing free knowledge, guidance, and training to residents across the sector on their rights and on the duties of social housing landlords.
This will help residents learn how to take an active role in how their home is managed through a series of workshops, forums and online resources.
The programme aims to facilitate effective engagement between landlords and residents and empower residents to hold their landlords to account. It will offer various learning and support activities and provide residents with information on ways to get involved and exercise their rights.
The first session held in Liverpool takes place next week, titled ‘Know your rights to engage and be heard’ on May 17th at 54 James Street, 13:15 – 16:30.
This session is designed to:
- explore how to get your views across, the impact of resident engagement
- how to get views from your community,
- understand how landlords make decisions
- increase your confidence and communication skills
- be interesting, worthwhile and fun!
