As part of our on-going commitment to regeneration in core neighbourhoods, Cobalt are reviewing a number of sites for possible future new build opportunities and how they can be brought forward. On that basis we want to invite any interested residents along to a consultation event taking place on The Bowley at Mentmore Crescent this Wednesday 23rd August from 11:30am – 2:30pm. Colleagues from the Development and Regeneration team will be available to listen to views and answer any queries that residents may have.
At this stage, we do not intend to submit a planning application. We are just in the early consultation phase, which is when we share our first drawings with possible ideas and get feedback from residents. We have spoken to a number of residents about our ideas so far, and are continuing to reach out to as many local residents as possible.
Our development strategy is focused on both new build, regeneration and how we can improve green spaces and the environments adjacent to existing Cobalt stock. We are also acutely aware of the current housing pressures being experienced in our area and not having enough of the right homes to offer our older tenants, who are often living in larger unsuitable homes, as well as families and young people who may be looking for their next move which would include an energy efficient home with a garden. In all new developments we will always consider well-designed green spaces aimed at enhancing our neighbourhoods and encouraging residents to stay active and get outdoors, understanding the positive impact this can have on our community’s health and wellbeing.
The site at Mentmore allows us to explore these ideas. Over the years we have received various complaints of fly-tipping, dog fouling and incidents of ASB on sites including Mentmore, so it is important that we obtain your feedback on these issues and how best you feel they can be addressed. We would urge anyone interested in understanding more to attend the consultation event next week to speak to our team about Mentmore Crescent, and wider regeneration and development plans.
