Our ASB Team’s Early Intervention Programme aims to educate primary school children about the risks of anti-social behaviour. The programme was created after research data showed an increase in children under 12 years old being exploited into criminal activities. As part of their work, the team invited Youth Forum members to an interactive Monopoly game, teaching young people about anti-social behaviour and its consequences.

The Monopoly game divided the children into four teams, and each were given a unique counter such as handcuffs, pretend money, a fake weapon or imitation drugs – to replace the top hat and boot versions in the traditional game. Teams then drew cards – with green cards highlighting good choices and red cards highlighting bad choices.

This innovative approach to ASB prevention showed forum members and students working together to explore the outcomes of their choices, and its wider impact in our communities.
