We’re proud to support Gas Safety Week (8th–14th September) to raise awareness about the importance of keeping your home gas safe.
This year’s theme, “Checking – Every Check Counts”, highlights the need for regular checks on boilers and gas appliances to prevent serious risks like gas leaks, fires, and carbon monoxide poisoning.
We’re asking all our residents to allow us access for their annual gas safety check. It’s quick, free, and can save lives. Residents who allow first-time access for their gas service appointment will be automatically entered in our quarterly prize draw. One lucky winner will receive a £50 Love2Shop voucher!
Gas safety checks are essential to keep you, your family, and your community safe – especially as winter approaches.
Hayley Parry, our Gas Safety Compliance Officer said, “Every year, we complete essential gas safety checks across thousands of our properties, and I want to personally thank our residents who let us into their homes for these checks. You are all putting your safety, and the safety of your communities first and we appreciate that.
“Winter is fast approaching, and during these essential safety checks our Gas Safe registered engineers will ensure your boilers safe functioning and efficient operation. If you are struggling to pay your bills, there is support available through Cobalt Housing.”
Gas emergency procedures and gas safety tips:
- If you smell gas or your CO alarm goes off, call the National Gas Emergency Service (Cadent) immediately on 0800 111 999.
- Install an audible carbon monoxide alarm to detect and alert you to dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in your home.
- Never attempt to work on a gas appliance yourself, always seek the help of a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer.
- Know the signs of CO poisoning: headaches, dizziness, nausea.
- Check your engineer’s Gas Safe ID card.
