We had a fantastic turnout for our International Women’s Day events (#IWD24) that were held in our office on Friday 8th March. We’d like to thank all of our amazing staff, community partners and tenants for turning up and showing their support around this year’s theme of Inclusion.

Everyone was encouraged to wear purple clothing or accessories and participants at our event engaged in activities to raise awareness about equality issues women regularly face.

All staff could join in virtually on the day and were encouraged to educate themselves on these matters by watching a free online coaching event called, ‘Inspire Inclusion: Be Your Best Self’.

A crafts corner was set up where participants could make ‘Dangerous Pockets’, highlighting how historically, women weren’t allowed pockets in their clothing in case they carried leaflets, which may cause political unrest in society.

There was a Circle of Trust writing exercise, along with drawing exercises around Cobalt’s ‘Inspiring Women’ and ‘What Makes The Qualities of an Inspiring Woman’.

Along with getting to know one another over tea and cake, our community partners were there and people could engage in meditation and mindfulness activities. Music was provided by our brilliant choir, with our own Paula Currie on the ukelele.

The IWD event was a great opportunity for us all to come together and showcase what we’re doing as an organisation to support women and gender equality in our communities.

Cobalt’s Mission This International Women’s Day

We’d like to celebrate all of our female staff and community partners. While we couldn’t showcase everyone, we’d like to acknowledge and thank you all for everything you are doing to support women and encourage equality and diversity in our communities.
