Women from across our communities came together today at the Christ Church Cabin in Norris Green to create a warm, uplifting space in celebration of International Women’s Day, observed each year on March 8th

This special gathering brought together customers, community partners and local visitors, who shared conversations, meaningful experiences and reflections on this year’s theme: “Give to Gain.” Together, attendees explored how generosity, collaboration and abundant giving can help forge a more equal future for women and girls.

Following the venue’s regular Brekkie and Brew Friday session, the event encouraged women to discover the wide range of local resources and support services available to them. Creative and wellbeing activities added to the energy of the day, with opportunities to take part in colouring, empowering affirmations, mindfulness crafts, crown and bracelet making, alongside art and yoga sessions designed to boost customers’ wellbeing.

Our colleagues also joined in the event, offering their personal pledges to champion gender equality and celebrate the achievements of women across our communities.

One attendee said of the event, “It was such a wonderful day and it was great to see women coming together to celebrate and support each other. There was a real energy in the room – it was empowering.”

A huge thank you goes out to our community partners who supported the event, including Maria Fogg Family Law, Plus One Learning, Realise, Tiny Teeth and Smoke Free Liverpool.

Throughout the event, the focus remained on recognising the achievements, resilience and contributions of women within our communities. The atmosphere encouraged storytelling, reflection and thoughtful discussion on progress made – and the steps we can still take together to advance equality.

This gathering served as a reminder of the power of community spaces to bring people together, spark conversation and inspire positive change.

International Women’s Day continues to be a significant moment each year to recognise progress, celebrate achievements and renew our shared commitment to equality. Today’s celebration added another memorable chapter to that story.
