Jessica is currently completing her Kickstart placement with us as a Neighbourhood Assistant. She heard about the Neighbourhood Assistant Kickstart opportunity through Cobalt’s Facebook page.

“As a Neighbourhood Assistant, I assist our Croxteth, Fazakerley and Norris Green neighbourhood officers with a variety of different tasks, including lower level tenancy management issues, allocations, general tenant enquires and the delivery of projects across our community.”

“I know it sounds cliché, but I’ve enjoyed the whole experience so far. If I had to choose just one thing, I’ve really enjoyed the freedom I’ve been given, especially when it came to planning events in our community over Christmas. On other training programmes, you are not given the same amount of responsibility as other staff members, but at Cobalt, I have been given the same level of trust and responsibility as others in my team.”

After Jessica completes her Kickstart placement at Cobalt, she is looking to secure a permanent position in the Housing sector.

“As well as using the skills I have developed in this role to shape my career moving forward, I will also use them in everyday life. For example, I now feel a lot more confident when it comes to approaching people.”

“If you are considering doing a Kickstart placement, my advice would be do it! The flexibility of this role at Cobalt has also allowed me to easily fit work around my childcare commitments, so don’t hesitate and think of the what ifs. Take the opportunity while it’s there!”

If you are age 16-24, unemployed and currently on Universal Credit, a Kickstart placement could be for you. Kickstart is designed to help you develop the skills and experience you need to find work, through valuable six-month job placements. To learn more about the Kickstart programme, please click here.
