Over the past couple of years, we’ve been working in partnership with the University of Liverpool to explore population, housing and social trends in our neighbourhoods, and how they may change in the future.

The University’s research team, led by Professor Alex Lord from the Department of Geography and Planning, used primary and secondary data sets, looking at demographic trends, microeconomic data and spatial data, to understand how our existing homes meet with current and future tenants’ needs.

This research has allowed us to make informed decisions to build the right type of homes in the right places, and maximise effectiveness of our existing stock. We also want to ensure any regeneration will support the wider social and economic development of our neighbourhoods.

‘Rightsizing’ is key, freeing up larger homes for families by building more suitable, high quality accommodation for older residents who are under-occupying their homes, as is explained in this video.
