Earlier this week we joined Merseyside Police, Liverpool City Council and the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office for a walkabout in Norris Green, raising awareness of hate crime support and where to report incidents.
The initiative brought together representatives from across the organisations, including Inspector Sean Harrison and his team, Liverpool City Council’s Barry Fearnehough, and Merseyside Police Hate Crime Coordinators, demonstrating a shared commitment to tackling hate crime and supporting our local communities.
During the walkabout, partners delivered information leaflets to around 300 households, providing residents with details about hate crime, reporting options and the support available through Stop Hate UK. The team also spoke with members of the community to encourage reporting and raising awareness of support services available.
The event provided an opportunity to engage residents and talk about their experiences. We spoke to a family who have been directly affected by hate crime and ensured they are supported with appropriate follow-up services.
By working together, partners are helping to ensure local people know how to access support and report incidents safely and confidently. The walkabout reinforced a clear message that hate crime will not be tolerated and that support is available to anyone affected.
