We are delighted to announce that we have secured £8.4 million in funding from Homes England to deliver new homes in Croxteth. This is in addition to £1.6 million from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Brownfield Land Fund.

The investment will support the construction of 70 social rent homes on the Stonedale Estate, as well as wider environmental improvements, and is a key part of our long-term regeneration plan for the area.

The wider regeneration of the Stonedale Estate has already seen the construction of 145 affordable new homes and this latest phase represents more than £20 million of investment, including public realm work and estate improvements.

Louise Davies, Executive Director of Communities and Regeneration at Cobalt, said:

“This is a major milestone for Cobalt. The support from Homes England and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority will help us deliver on our ambition to build 1,000 new homes in the coming years.

“Our investment in Croxteth is about more than bricks and mortar. It’s about creating vibrant, sustainable communities. These new homes will help reduce waiting lists, offer real choice for local families and drive long-term improvements to the area.”

The new homes will include a mix of family houses, one-bedroom apartments and bungalows.

Work on site has started and is expected to complete in August 2027, with construction carried out by Lovell Partnerships. Tahreen Shad, Partnerships Director for Lovell in the North West, said: “Following our successful collaboration on the Waterdale Gardens development in Croxteth in 2024 – bringing 88 family homes to the area and regenerating a redundant cinema car park – we are proud to be continuing our work with Cobalt Housing and supporting Liverpool communities. Our team is committed to pushing the drive for more high-quality and affordable housing options that will ensure more local people have a home to call their own, and through thoughtful placemaking, we aim to deliver a development where people are proud to live.”

The Croxteth development is part of Cobalt’s wider regeneration and growth strategy, aimed at delivering high-quality, affordable homes across North Liverpool and beyond.
