We are continuing to invest in our homes to make them safe, warm, comfortable and affordable for our customers.

Following a detailed tender process, we have appointed two contractors to deliver our planned investment programme. These are Carroll Group and Penny Lane Builders.

What does the investment work include?

The planned investment programme covers a wide range of improvement works, including:

  • New kitchens, bathrooms, windows and doors
  • Roof replacements and structural repairs
  • Electrical rewires
  • External works, such as paths and fencing.

What’s changing and what’s staying the same?

Our commitment to ensuring homes are safe, secure and meet the government’s Decent Homes Standard won’t change and for many customers, you won’t see a difference to how works are delivered.

The key change is behind the scenes. After previous contracts ended, we put short‑term arrangements in place to keep essential work moving. We’ve now completed a formal procurement process to ensure our contracts continue to meet customer expectations and support plans for longer‑term investment.

Shaped by your feedback

Customer feedback played an important role in shaping the new contracts. We used feedback from:

  • Complaints and satisfaction surveys
  • The Big Listen
  • Local engagement and consultation.

Customers scored submissions and interviewed contractors, feeding into the final decision and ensuring that quality, experience and your priorities were considered.

Wider benefits

As well as improving homes, these contracts will bring extra benefits to local communities:

  • Jobs and training for local people: For every £1 million spent, the contractors will create at least one job, apprenticeship or training opportunity for someone who lives locally. This means investment in homes also helps people gain skills and employment.
  • Investment in local communities: 1% of the total contract value will be used to support community projects.
  • Fixing small issues before they become bigger problems: When you have improvement works carried out, a HomeFit check will be carried out at the same time, fixing minor issues early on.

Keeping customers informed

We know good communication is essential. We’ll continue to contact you before work is carried out to let you know what to expect and who to contact if you have any questions.

Watch: What this investment means for you

We’ve created a short video to explain what this £50m investment means for your home and community.

It gives a simple overview of the improvements we’ll be making, the types of work you might see, and how our new partners will help us deliver high‑quality services and respond to your needs.
