We recently asked tenants to send in their energy saving tips via email or by returning the slip on the back of their summer newsletter.

We were overwhelmed by the number of responses we received, and it was great to see how simple tips and tricks have helped residents in our Cobalt community cut down on their energy costs. Take a look at our winning tips:

  • Batch cook meals like curry, scouse, chilli and soup, and then freeze in tubs to reduce time and gas/electric used – Sarah
  • Turn all switches off (unless in use) to prevent items charging you in standby mode – Katie
  • Fit water butts to drain pipes for use in the garden instead of hoses – Mrs Reppion
  • I read a lot, and I have reading glasses with lights on them so when I read in bed I don’t need to put the light on – Edna
  • Buy a teapot to make tea the old fashioned way and get more cuppas from your teabags. If you put a tea cosy on the pot you can also save money by not boiling the kettle so much – Friends of Norris Green Park volunteers

A huge thank you to everyone who sent in their energy saving tips and congratulations to our winners – we hope you enjoy your Love2shop voucher prize!

Are you in it to win it? Make sure you keep an eye on our website and social media for upcoming competitions!
